Toured up Jakes today to get an idea of what the snowpack looks like before our big storm pushed through. Upon arrival at 0600 there was nobody in sight. It was also 39°. Once on the hill, the snow was extremely firm with a very hard unbreakable rain crust. Above 8k there was evidence of wind loading on the northeast slopes and very visible wind transported snow. The skin track was non existent above 8.5k I dug a pit at 8,5k to test the Jan 2 PWL. THE Column test produced a ECTNR score. I found it extremely difficult to get the snow to react and I saw zero sign of propagation either. I do have concerns of wind loaded NE aspects failing in this next storm cycle tho.
