- went for a early morning tour up hidden peak. overall height of snow in this area has improved greatly since the February storm cycles. the "upside down" snow structure is starting to settle out a bit, making track setting and downhill riding quite enjoyable. - no signs of instability below tree line, as I ventured up onto the west crest (above 8800k) near tree line I did find some small isolated wind slabs starting to form. I was able to intentionally trigger one at ridgeline on a NE aspect at 9100k. size D1 and reactive. important note: i was finished skiing quite early around 10am, so one could assume with increased snowfall and wind loading. these wind slabs could have easily grown to D2 in size. - also roadside parking has been cleared by a blower on highway 89, increasing parking options north of the traditional jakes parking.
