A beautiful day where we saw a little bit of everything (peep the lenticular cloud show Glacier Peak was putting on in the photos). Great conditions for working on hazard management. Not often you see both persistent slabs and wet loose in the same forecast, but today was the sort of conditions “normal” conditions fall out the window . The main hazards we ran into was upper elevation solar exposure and warm air making for widespread and sketchy upper elevation wet loose conditions. 2-3 ft roller balls were shedding off rocks or ski turns as we were descending making for a cautious descent off of Avalanche towards the colder temperatures below. Additionally, places exposed to the stubborn easterlies from the past week had obvious signs of wind transport and slab creation, with some wumfing observed on convexities in open areas. Inversions were impressive to witness, with an “inverse” snow line observed in places (see photos). Visibility was limited towards Source Lake, but snow quality remained high.
