Skinned from 2600-4600’ on soft, new snow from 3” to 6” deep depending on elevation/orientation. New snow was fairly well bonded to 1/2” breakable crust. The strength of the crust was variable. Not much new snow transport. Skiing was good, but hard, because of the variable crusts. I dug to ground at 4600’, and found another deeper and thicker crust, just a few inch’s above ground. Total snow depth was only 2’ . Snow under the thick, deep, crust was light/nearly non existent. I did not feel, however, that a skiers weight would reach that with all the various layers.. With more snow and steeper terrain, this could become an issue. I felt very comfortable around 30 degrees. I did some hard ski cuts on steeper, safe areas, and got no movement.
