Quick report
- Conditions stayed cooler than expected due to medium winds-little warming above treeline was observed in the morning. - NW/W facing aspects were heavily wind-scoured, with deep drifts on N/NE aspects of N-facing terrain. - Wind-blown snow layers were variable between resting directly on ice layers vs. unconsolidated older snow. - Additional blowing snow also present above the headwall throughout the morning.
Avalanche
The debris of a D2-R1 avalance was present early in the morning (~10:30am). From photos the slide seemed to originate from rockfall above the tallest crown line and propagated across the slope further down near the ravine floor.
