Quick report

Marginally useful tracklog and pictures are posted here: https://www.strava.com/activities/11434092114 https://www.strava.com/activities/11442093299 https://www.strava.com/activities/11467428009 … and snow coverage as follows: NE Snowfield was ~600’ vert Tuesday May 21, only a small reduction from nearly its late-spring full ~660’ vert three days earlier, on Saturday May 18. But both the skier’s right and skier’s left doglegs are becoming hemmed in by rocks, which are also lurking all over the NE snowfield just below the surface. Memorial Day Weekend prediction, probably just barely over 400’ vertical, or perhaps just under. Airplane Gully on Friday May 17 was at ~1140’ vertical, nearly its full ~1,200’ vertical. The lowest ~1/3, after exiting the rock-lined couloir, was surprisingly wide, given that the top ~1/3 was surprisingly narrow. Choosing to ski on the descender’s right vs middle vs descender’s left vs unwisely close to the bootpack resulted in pretty much the same line! Memorial Day Weekend prediction, probably still ~800’ vertical, perhaps with some sideslipping or straightlining short sections too narrow to turn, yet still continuous snow, no portages.
