The conditions we faced in the Monte area this morning. 1st very large Whumpf happened in a low angle valley with tight trees. 2nd Whumpf happened 10 min later next valley over. Again, low angle no more than 15 degrees. 3rd Whumpf happened next in the same drainage on a 20-degree hill riddled with aspens. This Whumpf was big enough to shake the whole hillside and knock the snow off all the trees. 4th Whumpf happened in a very low angle (about 5 degrees). Rider got stuck and when our buddy jumped off his sled to help the whole valley shook and settled. Big enough it sounded like a blast went off.
