Quick report
We toured up the east slope trees before work today. Weather was 7/8 cloudy ocasionally obscured by fog, Air temp remained below freezing with light snow fall and a light to moderate nort wind that transported some snow on ridgetops. HS varied greatly from ~20cm at twin lakes to as much as 75cm at 10,300’ on northeast slopes. HST was the majority of the snowpack at lower elevations with wet melt forms below new snow. At 10,300’ HST was around 40-50cm and was comprised of F density dry PP. We dug a few quick holes to assess the 10-20cm of old snow from October and found that it was comprised of 1F hard, moist large crystals that appeared to be rounding facets, likely as large as 2+mm. No signs of instability were observed, terrain hazards were the greatest risk of the day as limited snowpack made the second half of the descent carful and slow
