Quick report
Toured up to Mt Furlong via the Tranquil drainage. Cloudy skies early cleared to blue and sunny later in the day. Calm winds all the way to the basin. Windy on the ridge proper causing visible snow transport. Great coverage for the skin up. Saw signs of wind affected snow up in the basin but didn’t encounter any slabs or shooting cracks. Saw cornices and pockets of wind slabs on the ridge proper of Furlong. Skied ESE slope. Great snow with no signs of instability. Below the basin the ski down consisted of multiple battles with alders and defensive skiing in the trees. Snow down low turned into great snowball snow later in the day.
