Quick report
I remember Bruce Tremper created a detailed video crown analysis of this large old slide (nearly 3 weeks ago now). I believe he performed it on Nov. 12 which was the next gully over (lookers right).
The intent here was to examine the old slide bed surface from a reloading scenario since we have a series of upcoming storm impulses. I have to say it was difficult to maintain footing on the icy old October snow bed surface while working. The reloaded snow just wasn't (in my tests) stiff enough to propagate but the layer resides on a slick, very thin layer of facets which may present a problem with the upcoming new snow loading.
Skiing out was a combination of 3 (yes only 3) soft powder turns with the remainder a combination of supportable rock hard wind board, unsupportable wind crust and finally sun crust on the more southerly aspects. Pray for some snow, soon.
Snowpack
Widespread wind board and wind crust on the upper elevation exposed terrain. Some soft powder still around in the well protected northerly aspects.
