Over a foot of new snow sits on top of a mostly supportive crust that formed valentine's day. Underneath that there was sugary faceted snow sandwiched between another hard melt-freeze crust. The weak layer/crust combo felt punchy with a ski pole and was easy to identify throughout the tour with quick hand pits.
