Quick report
Surface Hoar was observed from road level up to 3000'. At lower elevations, surface hoar was well developed with 2-8mm cups mixed with some long needle like surface hoar. Grain size decreased to 2 mm with elevation and disappeared by 3000'. This faceted grain had formed on smooth/hard old wind affected surfaces in some places that could prevent absorption by the snow below and act as an effective bed surface in the future.
