Climbed from the road up to ghost trees area. New snow at trailhead was 3-4". Winds were swirling and depositing snow down low but predominantly out of the SW. At about 8400' on a NE facing terrain feature it was very easy to get 6-8" windslabs to release, with shooting cracks up to 30' away from a single jump. As I got higher oddly the wind deposited snow became less of a feature and became right side up storm snow with depths up to 12". Descending the upper 800' of ghost trees yielded no instabilities and I climbed a second lap up to fern grotto where I had noticed the wind was coming straight up the couloir. No instabilities noted while descending fern grotto either.
