Quick report

I heard rumors of large avalanches impacting the Autumn Creek trail, so we went to take a closer look.

  • We viewed three large crowns of Persistent Slab avalanches that failed in late February. These were on east-to-southeast aspects between 6600 - 7000 feet.
  • All were in steep, rocky terrain with non-uniform snow depths due to the frequent wind. These characteristics are similar to the Persistent Slab we investigated on 3-17 immediately south of these three.
  • Two debris piles traveled a long distance and impacted the Autumn Creek trail.
  • The destructive size of the slides varied between D2.5 to D3.
