Quick report
I set out on a long walk to get to a couple slopes that tend to preserve facets, very well. I experienced a variety of snow surface conditions in my travels, including breakable crust, wet/heavy snow, soft, dry snow, surface hoar, near surface facets, stiff old windboard, and decomposing old wind slabs. When I reached my destination, I found 15 cm of basal facets (2mm) at the base of a 110cm deep snowpack. The basal facets appear to be rounding where I dug. The surface held surface hoar. Weather was spring-like, but with early December light.

Warm day, surprisingly significantly cooler in the shade. Calm, no wind, increasing cloud cover as the day continued.
Snowpack
HS: avg 110 - 9800' NNE NTL
Basal facets found at the base of the snowpack (2mm) and appear to be rounding where I dug. ECTX.
Stiff old wind slabs decomposing.
Snowpack mostly right side up, F to 1F to P hard (EXCEPT for 15 cm F hard basal facets). CT 11 SC, ECTX on a layer of decomposing PP 10 cm down.
