Quick report
20240308 0800-1230 24*F at step Winds 0-5 in treeline, 20 mph gust on exposed ridges. 1in of snowfall in last 24hr Skied the west and east faces of White Mountain on Friday. From digging the previous evening, on location, we observed that the snow was 4F firmness for the first 30cm and a consistent 1F down to 120cm. We’ve seen this results in multiple locations throughout the area over the past several days. The previous evenings snow left a 2cm layer of dry powder on the surface. We ran a couple laps on the west side of the mountain in the earlier hours before submitting. Exposed terrain above the tree line was wind scoured for the last 1/4 mile of ascent. On the east face the snow was firm and wind buffed but still very skiable. As we descended into the tree line, the snow softened up and we got about 800ft of descent through the treeline in powder.
