Quick report

I did not see any signs of instability today. Even on solar aspects at peak heat of the day, snow was staying cold. No warmup or moisture in the upper snowpack. I did notice a very brittle and thin melt freeze crust lower down on the presidential ridge. Easterly and north aspects were a smattering of wind buffed and firm to faceted and punchy. There looked to be some rocks and tundra beginning to poke out. The sun was strong and bright all day. Light winds kept snow surfaces cool and no avalanches or even shallow wind slabs were observed. The skiing was challenging and variable but the sunshine was beautiful. The best snow was at low elevations. I have no complaints. I would be on dirt and sage brush back at home.
