There's not enough snow to ride or ski on yet, but thin or no snow cover in avalanche terrain may be a blessing. The existing snow on shady slopes at upper elevations is quite weak, and it's likely to stay that way for a while after it's buried. Slopes with snow cover now will likely be more dangerous then those that are bare or very shallow. -Looking west across Beginner Bowl toward Naomi Peak. -Wood Camp from the east.
Existing snow is less than a foot deep and only found on slopes facing the north half of the compass. The shallow snow is weak and sugary or faceted.
