Visibility was poor so can't comment on any natural activity. We skied the southern aspect of west desolation ridge several times and had some good turns. We dug two pits and both showed increasingly dense layers of the new snow and then a deep weak layer from the rime event. On a slightly wind loaded more eastern aspects of the ridge I was able to form cracks that propagated a bit and in a small pit there the new snow slabbed off the deep unstable layer. Overall seemed moderate danger in the trees, but probably high danger on anything wind loaded and obviously high consequences given the amount of snow on the weak layer.
