Quick report
Bombed, icy and hard snow following Alpental up track to Source Lake -- ski crampons very helpful. Observed footprints along route with no post holing. Above Source Lake snow conditions more favorable, but still generally firm. We stopped ascending towards Snow Lake divide at 4300 when we entered the fog. Skied to source Lake -- found 2 inches of soft snow on top of the crust further south in the Source Lake basin when slopes had not been sun baked. Did some mini-laps on that section of not so terrible snow between Source Lake and the bottom of the avalanche debris pile at the bottom Bryant Couloir. Ski out the Alpental return track was my challenging than typical -- with more sidestepping needed and careful navigating around tree wells and creek holes. Observed one creek holes where it appeared a snowboarder had fallen into the creek and then crawled out using their snowboard horazontially as an anchor/handhold. Yikes. Several sledders and dogs on the lower part of the return track.
