Quick report
Highly variable conditions exist at Waterhouse. The first 500 vertical feet are characterized by very lumpy conditions with increasingly exposed downed logs and boulders; tracks are hardened to concrete. Above 8200 feet, there are more surface facet areas on NW aspects but also far less skied areas as well. Up to about 9100 ft, there are still very good skiing facets on NW aspects. N/NE aspects above 8800 ft have a 4 cm crust, which is supportable in places and not supportable in other places. Above 9100 ft, the snow is hardened on almost all aspects with some facets in sheltered areas. Descending, skiing was enjoyable on NW aspects between 8200 and 9100 ft. Below that, it's starting to become survival skiing. Very fast skate back across the lake to the car.

Snowpack
Consistent with the snowpack at Powderhouse, there are surface facets on the NW aspect and several near surface crusts. Above 8800 ft, N/NE aspects had a surface crust of about 4 cm with facets underneath. At 8100 ft, crusts at 4, 14, 42 cm down; 8400 ft: 4, 12, 24 cm down; 8600 ft: 6, 38, 68 cm; 8800 ft: surface crust 4 cm thick; 8900 ft: 10, 52, 74 cm down; Ridge 9451 ft: 14 cm. HS at ridge was 125-130 cm on protected N aspect.
