Quick report

The snow was quite stable the whole way during uphill. For all the other routes we did all felt stable too. I think this one is particularly due to sun exposure.

Avalanche

Encountered a small avalanche when we decent the phantom trees route on Snoqualmie mountain at around 2pm. It was partly sunny at that moment and the face is facing south. It’s also at an opener area in the trees. So I believe the snow was a little bit cooked by the sun. I triggered a small avalanche when skied over a steeper section. The avalanche spread for about 20 meter wide, and wiped off the recent snow. It did catch me but did not run very long. I’m not buried either. No one from our group is hurt from the accident.
