Pictures were taken at high noon on Super Bowl Sunday. From (43 57.9769 by -114 42.0037 @9100’) the West Headwaters of Germania Creek looking over at a Northerly Aspect in Grand Prize Canyon. The drive up Pole Creek had no fresh debris on the road. Mostly sunny weather, light and variable winds. Solar aspects around 8000-9000 had a small zipper crust from previous days sun. RR process occurring at 8500 on a SW aspect. New snow was bonded well to the old MF crust in the basin we played in. Stayed on 30 degrees or less and didn’t test the obvious exposure from above. The sun and new snow was awesome from conservative terrain.
Avalanche
A couple small isolated slabs running approximately 1000 feet of vertical in Grand Prize Canyon. Looked crisp so probably the 9th or 10th. Looked like a natural trigger. Light cross loading had occurred previously. Small to medium point release sloughs had occurred in the basin we rode in also likely occurred the day before when it got warm.
