Quick report

Cracking
specific

Overcast and snowing from 7A-9A. Around 930/10a clouds popped and sun started to come out. Roller balls beginning...the warm up is coming! Upside down snow getting heavier and more upside down as the morning ensued. I dug a pit for a column test (CT) at the clearing @ 5400', s facing. Fractures at 3 (CT3) and 5 (CT5) around 5 and 8 cm down, progressive in nature and non planar. Seemed to be interstorm layers. Fracture @ 12 (CT12) was not sudden but planar and on the graupel layer, down approximately 30cm. Got more cracking on a few kick turns above the clearing and that was enough for us to flip it and turn around.

Snowpack

That graupel layer is sitting around 30 cm down and was still distinguishable as of this morning. Snowpack getting heavier on the surface as the morning ensued. Tree bombs just starting around 11A and man were they roaring.
