Quick report
Overcast skies and fog became broken and mostly sunny by mid-morning. Snow has consolidated over the past couple of days, but there was still plenty of dry, deep snow anywhere that was sheltered from the wind. Boot pen was often knee to hip deep if you stepped off your sled into untracked snow. Snow depths varied from 290cm at middle elevations to over 320cm in upper elevation terrain. Steady, swirling wind for most of the day at around 10mph. Gusts between 15-20mph. All aspects of upper elevation terrain had signs of wind effect, and snow was being redistributed by the wind in alpine terrain. Although the sun was out, the wind kept things pretty cold in upper and middle terrain. Lower terrain trees had some melting when we headed back to the trucks at 2:30. Lots of folks were out enjoying the beautiful weather and great snow conditions today. Many slopes were tested, with only a couple of isolated wind slabs triggered by riders.
