Quick report
No signs of instability on track or W aspect I snowboarded on. 20 degrees, partly sunn to mostly cloudy, 2” fresh overnight. Heavy winds and snowfall during last 6 days. I was in the same location on 3.3 and did not observe this avalanche.
Avalanche
NW aspect, Beards Mountain, ~8700’, occurred within 48hrs, Appeared to be a natural release. Failed just below a heavily loaded ridgeline. Crown appeared to be over 5 feet tall in some areas and appx 400+ meters long. Ran across valley floor and uphill into adjacent forest. R2D2.
