Quick report

Cracking
specific

Stable conditions were found in wind protected terrain.  Sensitive pockets of soft wind slab were forming just below ridge lines, but were still small in size.  The hazard would have increased with elevation at this location as storm totals are deeper, winds are stronger and fresh wind slabs have more mass.

Short shooting cracks (less than 2 feet) were observed on the lee of loaded ridgelines. Signs of instability and wind loaded snow did not extend very far down the slope from ridges (less than 30 feet).

Snowpack

45 cms of dry snow was found well bonded to the turkey day crust at 1600' with about half that at sea level.  25 cms (10 inches) of that had fallen in the last 24 hours at 1600'.   Only signs of instability were sensitive small wind loaded pockets on the lee side of ridges.  Hand shear tests showed good bonding to the rain crust (down 45 cms)  in wind protected terrain and easy propagation was observed down 25 cms in an ECT on a wind loaded slope.

Below the turkey crust moist snow was found to the ground.
