Quick report

Suprisingly good early season coverage for the Marias area. Seems like the Thanksgiving storm wasn’t immediately hammered by wind, leaving almost every aspect we traveled covered with at least a skinnable amount of snow. Skied sheltered NE and SE aspects. No notable instabilities, just a lot of surface transport, forming small pocketed wind slabs here and there. and making riding highly variable. We dug around on the SE aspect and with a lot of effort were able to get the Thanksgiving storm snow to move all at once on a thick layer of rain crust approximately 2 feet beneath the snow surface. It didn’t give us any pause on skiing that aspect, but was interesting to see.
