Toured from Weasel Lake up to ridgeline separating Weasel and Snowslide Creeks, skied predominantly W\NW aspects back into Weasel Cr for the duration of the tour. Day began with high clouds and intermittent moderate winds which progressed in late morning to more persistent moderate winds with frequent strong gusts. Skies became broken with intermittent sun in the early afternoon, becoming fully overcast again by mid afternoon. Snow transport was plentiful throughout the day both at ridgelines and even into drainage bottoms in the afternoon hours. Lee aspects at ridgelines were chock full of newly formed windslabs, which on my limited sampling were easily triggered with minimal coaxing. Surface conditions for the day started out with beautiful wind buffed pow and by the days end had transformed to stiff wind skim. Cracking of thin layer of surface snow on skintrack corners became commonplace as the day went on. Any slope with even a hint of southerly aspect held a very thin crust, presumably from yesterday’s brilliant clear weather. Temps remained cool thanks to cloud cover and the stiff westerly wind. Intentional ski trigger from ridgeline of freshly formed windslab on E/NE lee aspect above Snowslide Creek. Crown up to 24”, 1F+ density. Propagated widely, estimate approximately 200ft. Ran into low angle terrain immediately off of ridgeline.
