Northern Flathead Range, near summit of Desert Mtn

We traveled via snowmobile to find some fresh snow. We did not see any signs of instability…dug several hand pits but did not do any official stability tests or snow pits. Total snowpack was around 87 cm at upper elevations which was about 6400 ft. We skied primarily SE aspects, and surprisingly didn’t find any wind affected snow. There was about 6” of new snow from the Friday night/Saturday morning snow that was soft, and very enjoyable to ski.
