Quick report
Once again posting this way after the fact (reporting on 4/22, about tour on 4/17), so out of date, but once again maybe relevant since things are shaping up kinda similar to last week with a storm and rapid warming. Went out to BT on Fri 4/17, a couple days after the last big storm, which was on Wed 4/15, and we toured at Tumalo on Thurs 4/16 as the storm cleared in amazing cold winter pow. Temps were set to rise on Fri, so based on the last time there was a similar setup (and the snow changed super quickly as the sun got on it, become unstable in spots), tried to get out there real early. A couple local legends beat me to the punch and got Pucker and another line in great pow, but hey at least I didn’t have to put in the skin track! 🤣 There were several crowns in the main crater in the 11/12 o’clock area. Pucker looked pretty good; my friends reported somewhat variable in the top half and great bottom half. They dropped it around 7:15; I topped out around 9:30. They dropped the alternate entrance which did look a bit variable, and doesn’t accommodate many tracks, so went over to the main entrance which was buttery smooth and looked great, not even the usual cornice. Top half was actually great hot pow. Tried to powsurf the second half, but it was actually more variable than the top half so not ideal for that, but great for normal boarding/skiing. Friends reported great snow over on the No Name side. Decided to bail after that since things were starting to warm up (~10 am); at that point there were several more folks out in the crater area getting after it. Guessing things might be similar after this little refresh (though not as much new snow).
