It was a great ski day up in the mountains but riding on the other hand was pretty brutal. New snow measured about 4 inches with a little more on the leeward side of the mountains. I got up in some steep north facing terrain and found just what Craig said we'd find, spongy snow. The north is bouncy and fast. The new medium density snow isn't moving much however as seen in the very small new snow soft slab avalanche pic below it is bonding to itself. The second pic shows a this skin that ran in the trees.

- <p>My biggest concern to day was skiing over wind slabs on the north half of the compass above treed terrain. Wind slabs are just about everywhere up high and difficult to avoid in any terrain that has access to wind. Although I'm mostly concerned with hollow sounding slabs and slabs that don't hold my weight, some of the slabs out there are easily pencil hard and knocked me around more than once.</p> <p>There is so little new snow sluffs and new snow soft slabs really weren't concern outside of skiing in terrain traps.</p>
