We found a rain crust up to 3,800' and snow surfaces above that were a mix of a punchy "wind skin" or firm, slick, supportable wind board. In general, there was a lot of low coverage. We were able to walk up the majority of the gully on bare ground. The snow pack structure continues to be primarily a thick, firm, wind slab layer above a weak, sugary, faceted base, with another layer of facets and a "wind skin" layer at the snow surface. We conducted several ECT tests and had no concerning results, that being said, the snowpack structure is still something we are concerned about. We observed two natural avalanches in the Glen Alps area that likely occurred during the wind loading event over the weekend and are suspected to have failed on the upper facet layer we have been monitoring.
