Quick report

I travelled on northerly aspects up to 9300 ft to check on surface conditions below to near treeline on Crater Crest.

-Open areas held a mix of melt-freeze crust, near-surface facets, firm supportable windboard, or breakable windboard over loose facets.

-Sheltered forest slopes had a melt-freeze crust at lower elevations and higher elevations had dry near-surface facets with thin or no crust

Winds increased thoughout the day and began to swirl small amounts of snow around by afternoon near treeline and in the alpine. By 2 PM, lower elevation NW facing slopes received sun and had a softened a bit.

No instability observed.
