Toured up V bowl in Lee Vining Canyon. Below 8000’ old snow/facets was more frozen and consolidated below recent storm snow. Closer to 9000’ basal facets remained dry and sugary on NE aspect. Had one large collapse with cracking spreading out 50’ on either side around 9100’ on NE aspect. Partly cloudy and temps right around freezing and no wind. Just barely able to skin from road but due to poor coverage decided to hike back down the skintrack the bottom few hundred feet of descent.
