Ullr's Ridge

About 15 inches of new snow has fallen at ~9,000' since Thursday (12/7). Moderate winds above 10,000' were transporting the newest snow. Below 10,000', the recent snow was right side up with little slab. A melt-freeze crust from last week's warm temps is present under the new snow on most slopes below 8,000', and only on S/SE facing slopes above 8,000'. Overall, the crust is not well developed and crumbles easily in your hand. Snow depths are sitting at about 1' in the valley and increase to about 5' above 9,000'. Access to the mid/upper elevations remains sporty.

Dug two pits around 10,000'. One on a SE facing slope and the other on a NE facing slope. Both exhibit poor basal structure (see attached profiles). The NE facing pit propagated on the November drought layer while the SE facing pit did not. 

Observed an old avalanche on Mt. Wister. Crown was blown in.
