Quick report
We toured in the Elephant's Hump area today. Snow conditions were variable with sun crusts and near surface facets. Surface hoar growth was pretty widespread within this area on all shaded aspects. Within the pit, the snowpack was right side up and there was no sign of instability results within formal test. Facet growth continues under the crusts and there was 10 cm of near surface facets at the top. By early afternoon light Southwest winds started to pick up, but no snow was being transported at this time. On the way down, we released a very small pocket of loose dry snow.

Clear skies with warm temperatures. Light Southwest wind developed in the early afternoon.
Snowpack
We dug a snow pit on a northwest aspect around 8400 feet. Snowpack was right side up with a facet crust combo in the top 40 cm of the snowpack. There was 10 cm of near surface facets above the crusts at the top of thesnowpack. There was three main crust below that which had signs of facets in between each one. The bottom 50 cm of snow was 1f hard all the way to the ground.
