Quick report
We dug a pit at 5650ft on a west aspect just above the Bullion Basin summer trail in an opening in the trees. Solstice crust was about 75cm down. 12cm of lighter recent snow on top of more consolidated, slightly denser snow down to crust. Everything above the crust was fist hardness. We did a compression test and an ECT and observed fractures down to density change interface (12cm). The ECT result was ECTN 15. We did observe a fracture that propagated a few centimeters with harder shoulder taps. As we continued on our day, we did not observe any snowpack cracking in spite of stomping skis on tiny test slopes. Wind was light until 2pm when it became very strong and gusty, primarily out the west, and it was transporting lots of snow in Cement Basin.
