Quick report
During a long around tour on all aspects and elevations around the Glen lake and Sweathouse creek area, views were decent enough to get a good look at the natural cycle from last week. It appeared that the area experienced a moderately sized natural storm slab cycle last week (many crowns on steep windloaded aspects), a few glide avalanches, and went through a massive wet cycle. One of the more impressive wet cycles I can remember. There was evidence of wet slides of all flavors on all aspects (slightly fewer on high elevation shaded) and at virtually all elevations. Wet slides ran the gamut from small roller balls to large wet slides gouging into a rain saturated snowpack and running thousands of feet. The only flavor of wet slide that I did not observe were wet slabs on the dry January layer, or wet slides failing at the ground. The underlying snow surface had consolidated all the way up to ridgetops at 8, 400 feet even on shaded aspects. During the day, it snowed about 2". The underlying snowpack was pretty locked up, and barely softened up enough for half decent corn on solar aspects by mid-afternoon. I felt comfortable skiing all terrain that wasn't threatened by cornices or glide avalanches.
