Quick report

Went for a lil ski to say goodbye to this snow layer. Found mostly firm surfaces, and lots of faceted snow. - In the hippie trees ~10k north facing slope found a pretty thick layer of sugary near surface facets. Fist ->4 finger in hardness for ~20/30cm - At the top of the hippie chutes ~10.8k I found probably the largest grains I’ve ever seen at the surface (photo attached) It seemed like a sun crust that had re-faceted? I’m no snow expert here - seemed like above 10k had received a little dusting of snow from the 6th. -south facing slopes we encountered were predominantly sun crust—ever around 10,800ft -most aspects on lower slopes (generally below8.5k) also had a melt/freeze crust -the start zone on the north side of Morrison col had what I’m guessing was newer wind drifted snow ranging from 2-10cm sitting on top of older near surface facets.
