Quick report

Traveled to Tunnel Ridge Weather Station to swap out the wind sensor, which didn't appear to be giving good readings. That work precluded digging any holes in the snow. No signs of instability or recent avalanche activity, though we did see a at least one large, older fracture line on the high peaks of the Flathead Range.

Increasing clouds through the day over the Flathead Range; skies over GNP stayed blue. Some clouds pouring over low spots on divide. Winds light at weather station, with no recent drifting. We did, however, see some occasional blowing snow on the high peaks of the Flathead Range.

Snowpack

Boottop settled, dry snow on the shaded aspects we skied and skinned. The snow on sunny start zones below the weather station stayed dry.

No recent activity, including on sunny, southerly slopes. Possible fracture line(s) on NE face of Peak 8508. The face was mostly shadowed, however, so we couldn't be confident. That face produces large slides most years.
