Red Flags
Poor Snowpack Structure

Highlighting weak snow structure that exists on mid and upper elevation aspects facing west through east, but most evident on northwest through northeast aspects. Weakest snow is a layer of facets underneath temperature crust sitting below the 10-15 cms (4-6") of Wednesday's storm snow. (Mark White noted the same thing in his usual excellent observation from Cardiac Ridge on 11/23) although there is plenty of weak snow throughout our thin snowpack.

Snowpack

HS is roughly 60 cms (24") on northerly aspects above 9000'. The storm snow that fell on Wednesday is faceting (weakening).
