Quick report
The Wet Loose avalanches were active today and/or yesterday, with the inversion layer temperatures, most slopes on the southern half of the compass was showing signs throughout the day. I dug a test pit on a true north facing aspect in the shades to test for that Jan7 crust and the Xmas crust. Neither propagated entirely in either Compression Test or Extended Column Test, but both broke on the weak interface layer. Something to note when new snow falls. Our group rolled with a Stepping Out Confidently mindset today and traversed around some big terrain with little signs of anything other than Wet Loose sluff offs here and there. These layers could be trigger in isolated areas, I'd imagine with more snow load on top, such as in wind loaded areas or on steep leeward slopes. Watch for cracks in the snow! Although these layers might only break roughly 30cm deep, it could change your plan for the day in consequential terrain.
