Quick report
12-15 inches of new snow at Marmot Pass above 5000'. Several inches at 3000' just above the Upper Big Quilcene Trailhead. The only indications of potential avalanche precursors observed were a few clumps and rollerballs on south facing slopes receiving a lot of sun. The snow was unconsolidated and poles penetrated easily to ground level. The several avalanche chutes did not appear dangerous but this snow is a good start to building up snow in areas that received a lot of sun and tend toward loose wet avalanches when they occur. Freezing level was around 3500'. Temps at the Pass (6000') were mid-high 20's. Sunny with the most affect being on the south facing slopes that are frequently subject to avalanche activity.
