Quick report
We enjoyed low-risk terrain while gathering good information about the snowpack, smiles, and ski turns. The overall rounding is progressing well, but melt-freeze crusts in the snowpack are slowing down rounding near them. There is also low confidence in the distribution of these crusts and weak layers. Today's observations showed lower (down 85cm) in the snowpack, harbored energy, and angles (facets/persistent grain types) that have propagation potential. As the new snow forms cohesiveness and has more slab characteristics, the likelihood of failure at this interface will increase, especially in areas of previous windslab/ hard bed surfaces, not just the weak near-surface facets.

Calm, foggy, and warm day with tempuraturs hovering near freezing.
Snowpack
Creamy snow skiied well. Observed roller balls and trees starting to shed. No shooting crack- fresh snow did not have enought cohesiveness. Rounding was observed, but stil found large angular facets on points of failure.
Pit tests had failures
down 35cm - ECT N 18, and PST 35/100 (SF)
down 85cm - PST 50/150 (End)
Down 85 cm failed on large, angular facets struggling/ slow to round with the adjacent melt-freeze crust.
