- <p>Despite the strong wind, first from the WSW then shifting to WNW by mid morning, no new sensitive windslabs were observed. </p>
4" of new snow was evenly distributed on all aspects today. The first two inches was graupel and the last two were smaller irregular crystals (Pic 1). The strong wind seemed to evenly distribute the modest new snow onto all aspects very well and made for a nice reset. By noon, the wind had shifted to the WNW and was transporting snow back over the Emma Ridge onto the south aspects (Pic 2). Skiing was fast and bouncy on the north and fast and bumpy on the south. I managed to trigger one very small dry loose slide while skiing on the north aspect in Two Dogs that petered-out at the first slope angle change (Pic 3 heavily edited to compensate for poor visibility). Trail breaking was surprisingly challenging due to the slick old snow surface with graupel on top and I was grateful for ski crampons on the steep south aspects.
