Quick report

Collapsing
isolated

About four inches of soft snow fell overnight which made for decent skiing although the snowpack is still extremely shallow and hazardous (about 54cm deep, total). Isolated collapsing was observed in near tree line terrain, even in a recycled skin track. A hand pit showed a planar fracture between this week's snow and faceting snow on the ground (about 44cm down). When the block fell over, the Monday night snow broke away from the top (about 10cm down). Near the entrance to eagle bowl, a 1-3cm deep wind skin had failed naturally. While skiing in steep terrain nearby, this layer was reactive but never propagated more than 1'.
