Quick report

No signs of recent avy activity and no signs of instability as we traveled and looked around to surrounding peaks. Very little wind but some blower snow ready for transport if it comes. Observed small ( 2-5mm) surface hoar in open meadows, snow height ranging from 60-110 cm from 5,500 to 6,600ft on E and SE aspects. Snow pit was dug in a grassy area, had roughly 15 cm of old faceting snow at the base that was problematic. The ground temp was above freezing and there was a distinct difference in the OG snow vs new. Cut a CT to start, collapsed at the ground on isolation. Cut another CT, failed at the ground on 6. Most notable ECT test was at 27 on the interface between the facets and the other snow. Result propagated 50 cm and stepped down into the facets. Skied meadows and glades below 30°, chose not to ramp it up. Parked at heart lake trailhead, don't think anyone would be able to drive past there in a normal 4wd vehicle unless you like digging.
