Observed

Haven't been in this area this year and wanted to check in on the snowpack. We triggered large collapses in numerous locations as we traveled through untouched terrain. Some slopes collapsed multiple times. We collapsed several large starting zones that did not produce avalanches

Snowpack

A relatively thin and actively faceting slab rests uncomfortably on top of a weak stack of facets. In this location, the slab was 40-45cm thick and losing strength thanks to faceting. Weak layer was F to F- in hardness immediately under this slab. This combo returned multiple ECTP results with moderate force and produced numerous large, rumbling, far-propagating collapses.

Observed some other, older persistent slab avalanches as well. The reported slides are interesting as they give some insight into the surfaces we are burying and very gradually loading here.
