Sky clear, wind calm, elevation 5700, east aspect, temp. 40f. HS 80-90cm, (it was 120 in this area prior to rain event). First 14 cm of pack was quite durable, pencil grading to one finger, then much softer below. Below the Solstice crust the transformed layer remained unchanged ( no structural integrity) . Shovel shear test failed at 14 cm (rain saturated interface) again the surface was quite durable. Following down the column when the solstice crust was cut the remaining column failed. Two isolated column tests #1 failed on 11, at 45cm, and at 22 the solstice crust failed #2 failed at 11 @45cm and the solstice crust failed on 13. Generally lots of bare ground/ rocks showing, evidence of debris flow in some exposed areas. Skiing was generally not much fun, firm crust with the occasional soft spot to keep you on task.
